The Cumnor Foundation

Every year, Cumnor House Sussex offers two fully funded bursary scholarships to children whose families cannot afford to educate them in the independent sector. We invite parents or guardians whose child currently attends state primary school, and who excels academically or shows particular potential in Art, DT, Drama, Music or Sport, to apply.

The bursary scholarships are means-tested and provide 100% funding for a child from Year 4 (aged 8+) to Year 8 (aged 13) at Cumnor House Sussex and thereafter from Year 9 (aged 13+) to Year 13 (aged 18) at one of Cumnor’s thirteen independent senior school partners.

Anyone interested in pursuing a bursary scholarship for their child will initially be asked to complete a Registration Form and a Bursary Form. On confirmation that the necessary criteria have been met, their child will be invited to attend an ‘Experience Day’ at Cumnor House Sussex – when they will join a Class, undergo some academic tests and be given the opportunity to show their talents in Art, DT, Drama, Music or Sport, as appropriate, as well as having an interview with Christian Heinrich, the Headmaster.

The parent/s or guardians of each potential candidate will be visited at home, with a view to ensuring that all the necessary support structure is in place for the whole family should a bursary scholarship be offered. Places will be offered depending on the particular degree of promise shown by applicants.

Any parent or guardian interested in applying for a bursary scholarship for their child who is due to start Year 4 in September 2018, is invited to contact Cecilia Desmond, Registrar on 01825 792006 or email her: registrar@cumnor.co.uk.

Monday 30th April 2018 is the deadline for bursary scholarship applications for the 2018/19 academic year, starting in September 2018.
