The Cumnor cricket philosophy is for every child to leave the school with a fond memory of the sport.
The vagaries and challenges of this sport mean that the targets and outcomes for each child can vary dramatically. In the younger year groups the focus will be on the basics of striking, throwing, catching, agility, balance and co-ordination. Technical input will occur, when and where appropriate. As the children go further up the school small-sided games will be introduced to provide an environment for enjoyment and learning to take place. Again the level of technical input will be determined by the children involved.
By the time children leave Cumnor, an understanding of the game, and variations of it, is expected. Above all we hope the all children who experience cricket at Cumnor, boys and girls, feel that it is a sport in which they can enjoy and express themselves. We encourage the children to be innovative and brave.
