Highlights 2016-17

Take a look at some of the highlights from the 2016-2017 academic year in the Prep School.

  • 100% success rate achieved at Common Entrance
  • 49 Leavers from Year 8 moved onto 21 different senior schools
  • 32 pupils, representing 51% of Year 8, awarded scholarships to their senior schools
  • Scholarships achieved in Academic, Drama, Equestrian, Music, Sport, All-Rounder & Leadership
  • Three Rugby players selected to play for Harlequins England Developing Players Programme
  • Four medals – 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze – won at the IAPS National Athletics Championships in Birmingham
  • Gold medal and Championship record set at the IAPS national swimming competition
  • Four boys and one girl selected to play for the Sussex Squad Cricket programme
  • Year 7 pupil earned the right to place ATCL after his name having been awarded Distinction in Trinity College Music Diploma
  • Voyage of the Vikings : Hurricane Hurry, a suite for strings, premiered by the School Orchestra and composed by our Assistant Director of Music
  • 6-12 year-old musicians performed at a special Concert celebrating the centenary of Stravinsky’s piano duets
  • 150 pupils sat LAMDA exams with 78% gaining Distinction
  • Second prize won at ‘Young Art’, a national art competition attracting over 7,000 entries from 73 schools UK-wide
  • The official opening of our new state-of-the-art STEM building, The Peake, by NASA scientist, Dr Gary McKay
  • Inspirational school visits by Team GB Athlete and ‘Sporting Giant’, Chris Gregory; Children’s Laureate, Chris Riddell; renowned children’s illustrator and author, David Roberts and children’s authors Juno Dawson, Abi Elphinstone, Justin Fisher and M G Leonard
  • We raised over £33,000 for our School charity, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, contributing towards a staggering £153,395 total raised by the extended school community
