What is a typical day in the Nursery like?
We learn through play and have a lot of fun in the process!
Like the Pre-Prep we will be using the Read, Write, Inc Phonics scheme and the Numicon resources in Maths which in order to make the transition as seamless as possible.
What should I bring to school?
- Red reading bag –optional and available from Simmonds. This is also used in Reception.
- Coat, hat, wellies, waterproof trousers. We go out in all weathers so please ensure your child has appropriate clothing.
- Sun hat, cream in the Summer Term.
- A bag with a full change of clothes in it.
- Art aprons will be provided.
8:00am –Free Play
Children can choose from a range of activities such as puzzles, artwork, drawing, games etc. These will be out on the tables and they can busy themselves whilst everyone arrives.

9:00- circle time.
During the morning- Adult led activities, Snack and break time, outdoor play.
All children staying for lunch will enjoy a hot meal. They will be served at the table by staff and encouraged to try what is on offer. We will endeavour to find something they enjoy from the vast range of choices should they find that day’s menu difficult.
11:45- Home time for morning session children not choosing to stay for lunch.
12:30-Registration for afternoon session children, free play, quiet time for full-day pupils.
During the afternoon- creative activities, free choice play, stories, music and movement. The children can choose what they would like to do and there will be adult guided activities.
We will endeavour to get outside every day. The school grounds offer us many opportunities; there is an outside classroom (Woodpeckers), beautiful woodlands to explore, pitches to play on and a paddock to stretch our legs. The children will need to have appropriate wet weather gear available every day.
3:00pm – Home time.
