Boarding at Cumnor has been designed with children in Years 7 and 8 in mind, as a natural extension of their developmental journey when their chief spheres of influence start to move away from parents towards peers.
Boarding, with its emphasis on building independence, choice, voice, and other social and emotional skills, supports this developmental stage within a safe space to grow.
We go the extra mile, every day, to make sure that our boarders have a great experience, with an exciting line-up of activities to keep them happy and stimulated, cement friendships for life and create wonderful memories. This is our blueprint.
Boarding is also integral to Cumnor’s Kudos curriculum, cultivating invaluable life skills and habits among pupils, facilitating self-discovery, and strengthening social bonds.
Cumnor is our own family home and a real ‘home from home’ for our boarders. Our boarding experience gives confidence, flexibility, choice and true partnership and we would be delighted to meet you.

Boarding life in review
Boarding gave me an understanding of responsibility and helped my confidence. It also helped my relationships with staff and taught me how to talk with adults.
I have been hugely impressed with how well Cumnor children have been prepared for senior school life.
It has really helped strengthen my friendships, but also widened my circle of friends.
We could not be happier, nor more grateful, to Cumnor for giving our son such a brilliant, fun and joyful boarding experience. It is proving difficult to get him home even to eat! He is making so many happy memories to look back on.
Time off devices gives us the opportunity to reconnect with people around us and I’ve tried things outside of my comfort zone.
