Boarding

Cumnor is a warm, friendly community with family at its heart. We offer preparation for boarding life at senior school with flexible boarding options for children in Year 7 and 8 in a home-from-home environment where they can develop personally, socially and creatively alongside their friends.

As children progress through Year 7 and 8, the extent of our boarding provision grows, allowing children to extend their time away from home as they become increasingly confident in a boarding environment.  The highlight of our Boarders’ time is probably our ‘Staff Supper’. Every two to three weeks, staff and children sit down to a semi-formal dinner, based around a culinary theme; a great opportunity for our children to try something new, broaden their palettes, and learn how to engage and converse in a more formal dinner setting.

The boarding house is run by Rob and Caroline Park. They live in the House with their son and daughter. Mr Park runs the house and coaches Games to all year groups throughout the school, while Mrs Park teaches PE and Games, as well as teaching in the Learning Enhancement Department.

“As parents ourselves, Caroline and I work hard to ensure every child feels known, is supported and has and enjoyable boarding experience. Whether on a termly or occasional Friday night basis, children have the opportunity to benefit from the range of experiences boarding offers, be that additional instrument practice, supervised prep and other schoolwork or the opportunity to relax and socialise with friends and staff.”
