Sport at Cumnor

Regardless of ability, sport has the power to permeate us all. We give each and every Cumnor child the time, support and guidance needed to develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and the drive to lead an active life.

Sport is an essential part of our all-round education philosophy. We pride ourselves on nurturing individual talents so that every child can excel.

It is where we learn about resilience, strategy, courage, encouragement, fair play, and winning – and losing – well.

Regardless of ability, sport has the power to influence us all, building resilience and the motivation to lead an active life. We give each and every Cumnor child the time, support and guidance needed to develop these skills.

Ollie Rogers, Director of Sport

Our teams have won a range of national and regional honours over the past five years and many of our children are linked into key regional pathways. Our approach has also seen our children secure a remarkable number scholarships to the top sporting senior schools in the country including Millfield, Tonbridge and Brighton College.

Sport for everyone

Sport is also about personal fitness and mental health. It is about fun and participation and following in the steps of our heroes and heroines, giving your all and playing your very best.

For some this might mean competing at a regional or national level. For others it will be developing new skills and enjoying being part of a team. So, whether on the rugby pitch, the netball courts, in the cricket nets or the swimming pool, outstanding – and sometimes glorious – sporting moments will be part of life for every child at Cumnor.

Variety is key

Everyone is included. Guided by our expert staff, many of whom hold regional and national honours in their own right, all children will have regular opportunities to play, within school as well as externally in local and national events, festivals and fixtures. Needless to say, our Cumnor community will always be there, ready to support and celebrate our competitors.

Whatever the event, we are wholehearted in our participation, and we have a track record to show for it. Read more sporting highlights in our latest As One Newsletter.
