Drama enables pupils to express their thoughts, ideas and feelings in a safe environment. As they progress through the Key Stages, they explore voice, movement, gesture, facial expression and other forms of theatre. They become more self confident and self aware. At the same time, they develop their understanding about the world around, learning to interact with others in creative ways.

At Cumnor House we feel that Drama is an essential part of school life, both in the classroom and on the stage. Performing to an audience forms an important part of the Creative Arts programme at the school; all pupils are encouraged through lessons and activities to take part in at least one performance a year. A dedicated and talented team of teachers and assistants work with pupils to create exciting and visually arresting shows. In all the activity and rehearsal sessions, the value of working together towards an end result is encouraged and an equal emphasis is placed on commitment and having fun. We boast a new theatre consisting of professional standard lighting and sound facilities as well as an outdoor arena that is perfect for our summer Shakespeare production.

LAMDA is in its second year at Cumnor and we are now offering shared lessons during the day from Year 5 to Year 8. If you are interested then please contact me for more information.
