Sport

Cumnor House Sussex has a strong tradition of games playing and we pride ourselves on nurturing individual talents and interest so that every child can excel.

Every child participates in sport daily and has numerous opportunities to represent the School. We are immensely proud of our children every time they take to the sports field, knowing they will give their best, show great sportsmanship and commitment to their team.

Our unique position on the edge of the Ashdown Forest in the heart of the Sussex countryside provides us with unrivalled access to sporting facilities including 7 rugby, football and cricket pitches, an all-weather Astro pitch, heated indoor swimming pool, outdoor pool, 4 netball and tennis courts, cricket nets, athletics pitch, nine hole golf course, outdoor climbing wall and sports hall. Again, our success speaks for itself with 8 scholarships having been awarded in the past two years to the likes of Brighton College, Roedean, Bedes and Charterhouse.

Our Sports curriculum supports a full range of disciplines including rugby, netball, athletics, swimming, football, hockey and cricket in addition to a wide ranging variety of extra-curricular sports clubs or ‘Occupations’ from cross country to golf and yoga – children have a huge variety of physical activities to choose from that not only supports their physical, but also their mental health.

Through the Sports Department we believe we have the greatest opportunity to affect the future lifestyles of our children. Confidence and teamwork is undeniably supported, but we go beyond this. Regardless of ability, sport has the power to permeate us all – to cope with setback and failure and the drive to lead an active life – we can give each and every Cumnor child the time, support and guidance needed to develop these skills.
