Enrichment opportunities

Children are creative, expressive, physical, relational and intellectual. Every child has gifts and talents. Our role is to help them discover what they are, and to experience the joy of accomplishment. We do this through our extensive enrichment programme.

Beginnings

During the early years, we give children a broad range of experiences through our weekly co-curricular provision, which offers Art, Music, Dance, Drama, PE, Swimming and Woodpeckers, our forest school. Our after-school and extra-curricular programmes offer additional opportunities including Spanish, Ballet, Modern Dance, Lego robotics, coding, tennis, football and wellbeing.

Building

From Years 3 to 6 the co-curricular programme builds, and children can take up a musical instrument, get involved in our music ensembles, join LAMDA lessons in Speech and Drama or join the Sustainability Squad or run for School Council.

At the same time, the choice of after-school clubs (or Occupations, as they are known at Cumnor), widens further. We offer more than 30 different activities across four central themes – the creative, the cerebral, the physical and the environmental – so that every child can discover their personal passions and talents.

Broadening

In Years 7 and 8, we broaden again to reflect the kinds of experiences that pupils will have at senior school. Our Kudos curriculum introduces a range of new subject areas, including Entrepreneurship, Textiles, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation and Coding. While our Academic Scholarship and Co-Curricular Scholarship programmes allow children to deepen understanding and develop their skills.

We encourage the majority of our pupils to sit scholarship assessments at their senior schools. We believe our programs help expand their horizons, learn what they love, fuel their passions, build mastery and vitally, become a source of confidence as they move on into their next schools.
