Cumnor in the Community
Cumnor House Sussex, its parents and children are actively involved in our local community and see this is a vital part of our role.
Our longstanding Christmas Fayre is renowned across Sussex and beyond for marking the start of the Christmas season, supporting local businesses as well as raising significant sums for charity. In 2018, the chosen charity was FAST UK, raising £25,000 to help fund pioneering scientific research into finding a cure for Angelman Syndrome as well as providing support to families in the UK. Since 2001, Cumnor’s Christmas Fayre has raised over a phenomenal £400,000 for charitable causes.
Throughout the academic year, the children are passionate about selecting local causes close to their heart and plan and organise their own fundraising events, often focused around their Houses. Highlights are shared on our social media channels and in our School Magazine.
In addition, we strive to ensure our School’s fantastic facilities are shared with and benefit the local community – from regular science workshops in The Peake, shared author visits and drama performances with our neighbouring schools to hosting free seminars and evening events in our Theatre.
